Frank’s Diner
March 2025

With this project I wanted to try out creating a modular scene! I went with a train car diner because it has lots of repetitive elements that translate well to modularity. This diner specifically is the north location of Frank’s Diner in Spokane Washington.
I’m really proud of how this turned out! The scene consists of 24 modular assets that were modeled in Maya, the pie was sculpted in Zbrush, and then all textured in Substance Painter. My favorite parts were creating the stained glass material and the seat cushions. The stained glass design was made in Substance Designer which was a lot of fun. I enjoyed making the seat cushions because I did the bumps and wrinkles all in Substance painter by painting on masks for different height values, and it was really efficient not putting too much work into a high poly other than rounding edges and bevels.
I might build onto this more sometime in the future! Shout out to my team mate Kaden Leavitt who helped create the white block-in of the scene early on and it was very helpful for me planning out the scale of things.
