Photogrammetry

I created pretty much all of these while traveling through California to Washington while living in my car. Oregon was great for photogrammetry because it was almost always overcast creating even lighting. The moist environment creates a lot of moss and dirt which makes for good looking surface detail on objects. The majority of my rocks and cliffs were from Mendocino Headlands Park, part of a cozy small beach town that I highly recommend visiting.

I created all of these using Meshroom and Blender. If I were to do it all again I would use better remeshing and cleanup software like zbrush and I would have maybe done them with a slightly higher poly count. I feel that on most of these the poly count is too low for the visual fidelity expected in games nowadays.

All of this experience leaves me very familiar with the ins-and-outs of photogrammetry. At my college I host a photogrammetry workshop to help spread the knowledge and get other 3D artists into photogrammetry!
